When to go
The beach-day index peaks in December–April; April scores 8.5/10 with highs of 25 °C, sea at 23.2 °C and 88 mm of rain.
That matches the median for beaches in Brazil in the same month.
At its warmest the water here is 2.4 °C cooler than the Brazil median for February (27.0 °C).
Across the year the sea averages 20.7 °C, warmer than 66% of the coastal beaches in the atlas.
September is the wettest month (144 mm) and April the driest (88 mm); the yearly total is about 1,400 mm.
Daylight runs from 10.3 hours in June to 14.0 hours in December; in mid-April the sun rises at 06:36 and sets at 18:01 local time.
Orientation, sun and shore
The shore faces south-east (130°). Open water fills about 47% of the horizon close by, which makes it an open stretch of shore.
At no time of year does the sun set over the sea here: sunset bearings run from 243° to 296°, behind the land.
Sunrise is over the sea in every month.
Straight out to the south-east there is open water for more than 2,000 km, so the beach is exposed to long ocean swell.
About 1 km offshore the sea is roughly 11 m deep and 13 m at 3 km. Behind the beach the ground is about 9 m above sea level 500 m inland and 4 m at 1.5 km, a flat coastal plain.
Within 1 km, the land is 75% built-up land, 15% bare ground, sand or rock and 10% grassland (satellite land-cover map, 2021): an urban beach. Water makes up 49% of that circle.

Local transport: 1 bus stop within 1.5 km and 7 mapped car parks within 1 km.
