When to go
The beach-day index peaks in January–March; February scores 8.8/10 with highs of 24 °C, sea at 25.3 °C and 24 mm of rain.
In February that is 1.8 points above the median of the 204 beaches in Chile covered by this atlas.
At its warmest the water here is 9.1 °C warmer than the Chile median for February (16.2 °C).
Across the year the sea averages 22.6 °C, warmer than 70% of the coastal beaches in the atlas.
May is the wettest month (85 mm) and February the driest (24 mm); the yearly total is about 550 mm.
Daylight runs from 10.4 hours in June to 13.8 hours in December; in mid-February the sun rises at 08:00 and sets at 21:02 local time.
Orientation, sun and shore
The shore faces north (0°). Open water fills about 31% of the horizon close by, which makes it an open stretch of shore.
At no time of year does the sun set over the sea here: sunset bearings run from 243° to 296°, behind the land.
Straight out to the north there is open water for more than 2,000 km, so the beach is exposed to long ocean swell. The beach is on Easter Island, an island of about 163 km².
About 1 km offshore the sea is roughly 671 m deep and 1197 m at 3 km, so deep water starts close to shore. Behind the beach the ground is about 41 m above sea level 500 m inland and 94 m at 1.5 km.
Within 1 km, the land is 92% grassland and 6% tree cover (satellite land-cover map, 2021): a largely natural setting. Water makes up 29% of that circle.

- Tree 6%
Land cover: ESA WorldCover 2021 (10 m). Orientation from OpenStreetMap land polygons sampled in 36 directions; depths and heights from the GEBCO 2020 grid (about 450 m cells), indicative only.
Average wind speed at 10 m reaches 7.0 m/s in June, the windiest month.
OpenStreetMap shows no lifeguard station within 1 km. Seasonal lifeguard posts are often unmapped, so check on site.
