When to go
The beach-day index peaks in July–August; July scores 8.9/10 with highs of 25 °C, sea at 23.3 °C and 80 mm of rain.
In July that is 0.3 points below the median of the 158 beaches in Croatia covered by this atlas.
At its warmest the water here is 0.9 °C cooler than the Croatia median for August (24.5 °C).
Across the year the sea averages 16.3 °C, cooler than 67% of the coastal beaches in the atlas.
September is the wettest month (140 mm) and July the driest (80 mm); the yearly total is about 1,250 mm.
Daylight runs from 8.8 hours in December to 15.6 hours in June; in mid-July the sun rises at 05:27 and sets at 20:47 local time.
Orientation, sun and shore
The shore faces west (260°). Open water fills about 28% of the horizon close by, which makes it an open stretch of shore.
The sun sets over the sea in May–July and October–March; in mid-June it goes down at 20:50 local time on a bearing of 305°.
The opposite shore is only about 500 m away to the west, which keeps the water sheltered from big waves.
About 1 km offshore the sea is roughly 28 m deep. Behind the beach the ground is about 55 m above sea level 500 m inland and 174 m at 1.5 km, so the beach is backed by steep slopes or cliffs.
Within 1 km, the land is 84% tree cover and 15% built-up land (satellite land-cover map, 2021): a partly built-up setting. Water makes up 31% of that circle.
