Orientation, sun and shore

JunDecNESW

The shore faces east-south-east (118°). Open water fills about 25% of the horizon close by, which makes it an open stretch of shore.

At no time of year does the sun set over the sea here: sunset bearings run from 238° to 304°, behind the land.

Sunrise is over the sea in November–January.

The opposite shore is only about 1.0 km away to the east-south-east, which keeps the water sheltered from big waves. The beach is on Dugi otok, an island of about 111 km².

Within 1 km, the land is 90% tree cover, 3% shrubland and 3% grassland (satellite land-cover map, 2021): a largely natural setting. Water makes up 33% of that circle.
