Orientation, sun and shore

JunDecNESW

The shore faces south-west (220°). Open water fills about 19% of the horizon close by, which makes it a sheltered cove or bay.

The sun sets over the sea in November–February; in mid-December it goes down at 17:22 local time on a bearing of 235°.

The opposite shore is only about 500 m away to the south-west, which keeps the water sheltered from big waves.

About 1 km offshore the sea is roughly 1 m deep and 14 m at 3 km, a shallow, gently shelving sea floor. Behind the beach the ground is about 27 m above sea level 500 m inland and 39 m at 1.5 km.

Within 1 km, the land is 36% grassland, 33% tree cover and 14% built-up land (satellite land-cover map, 2021): a mixed, lightly developed setting. Water makes up 20% of that circle.
