Orientation, sun and shore

JunDecNESW

The shore faces north-north-west (335°). Open water fills about 17% of the horizon close by, which makes it a sheltered cove or bay.

The sun sets over the sea in June–July; in mid-June it goes down at 22:06 local time on a bearing of 309°.

The opposite shore is only about 500 m away to the north-north-west, which keeps the water sheltered from big waves.

About 1 km offshore the sea is roughly 4 m deep and 14 m at 3 km, a shallow, gently shelving sea floor. Behind the beach the ground is about 37 m above sea level 500 m inland and 57 m at 1.5 km.

Within 1 km, the land is 46% cropland, 25% tree cover and 23% grassland (satellite land-cover map, 2021): a rural setting among farmland. Water makes up 16% of that circle.
