When to go

The beach-day index peaks in July–August; July scores 9.7/10 with highs of 25 °C, sea at 23.9 °C and 12 mm of rain.

That matches the median for beaches in Italy in the same month.

At its warmest the water here is 0.7 °C cooler than the Italy median for August (25.8 °C).

Across the year the sea averages 18.3 °C, cooler than 56% of the coastal beaches in the atlas.

November is the wettest month (122 mm) and July the driest (12 mm); the yearly total is about 740 mm.

Daylight runs from 9.2 hours in December to 15.1 hours in June; in mid-July the sun rises at 06:01 and sets at 20:54 local time.

Orientation, sun and shore

JunDecNESW

The shore faces north-north-west (335°). Open water fills about 17% of the horizon close by, which makes it a sheltered cove or bay.

At no time of year does the sun set over the sea here: sunset bearings run from 239° to 303°, behind the land.

Straight out to the north-north-west the next coast is roughly 20 km away, so waves are mostly wind-driven sea rather than ocean swell. The beach is on an island of about 20 km².

About 1 km offshore the sea is roughly 15 m deep and 36 m at 3 km. Behind the beach the ground is about 43 m above sea level 500 m inland and 45 m at 1.5 km.

Within 1 km, the land is 70% shrubland, 17% grassland and 8% tree cover (satellite land-cover map, 2021): a largely natural setting. Water makes up 24% of that circle.
