When to go

The beach-day index peaks in July–August; August scores 9.6/10 with highs of 26 °C, sea at 25.8 °C and 27 mm of rain.

That matches the median for beaches in Italy in the same month.

Across the year the sea averages 18.5 °C, cooler than 53% of the coastal beaches in the atlas.

November is the wettest month (112 mm) and July the driest (25 mm); the yearly total is about 820 mm.

Daylight runs from 9.3 hours in December to 15.1 hours in June; in mid-August the sun rises at 05:58 and sets at 19:49 local time.

Orientation, sun and shore

JunDecNESW

The shore faces north-north-east (15°). Open water fills about 44% of the horizon close by, which makes it an open stretch of shore.

The sun sets over the sea in May–July; in mid-June it goes down at 20:21 local time on a bearing of 302°.

Sunrise is over the sea in March–September.

Straight out to the north-north-east the next coast is roughly 200 km away, so waves are mostly wind-driven sea rather than ocean swell.

About 1 km offshore the sea is roughly 9 m deep and 39 m at 3 km, a shallow, gently shelving sea floor. Behind the beach the ground is about 5 m above sea level 500 m inland and 15 m at 1.5 km, a flat coastal plain.

Within 1 km, the land is 40% cropland, 31% tree cover and 20% grassland (satellite land-cover map, 2021): a rural setting among farmland. Water makes up 48% of that circle.
