When to go
The beach-day index peaks in November–April; March scores 9.7/10 with highs of 29 °C, sea at 25.4 °C and 10 mm of rain.
In March that is 0.5 points above the median of the 345 beaches in Mexico covered by this atlas.
Across the year the sea averages 27.9 °C, warmer than 90% of the coastal beaches in the atlas.
September is the wettest month (213 mm) and April the driest (1 mm); the yearly total is about 930 mm.
Daylight runs from 11.0 hours in December to 13.3 hours in June; in mid-March the sun rises at 07:06 and sets at 19:07 local time.
Orientation, sun and shore
The shore faces north-north-east (20°). Open water fills about 14% of the horizon close by, which makes it a sheltered cove or bay.
At no time of year does the sun set over the sea here: sunset bearings run from 246° to 295°, behind the land.
The opposite shore is only about 500 m away to the north-north-east, which keeps the water sheltered from big waves.
About 1 km offshore the sea is roughly 11 m deep. Behind the beach the ground is about 7 m above sea level 500 m inland and 1 m at 1.5 km, a flat coastal plain.
Within 1 km, the land is 57% built-up land, 37% tree cover and 3% grassland (satellite land-cover map, 2021): an urban beach. Water makes up 36% of that circle.
