Orientation, sun and shore

JunDecNESW

The shore faces north-north-west (330°). Open water fills about 8% of the horizon close by, which makes it a sheltered cove or bay.

At no time of year does the sun set over the sea here: sunset bearings run from 245° to 296°, behind the land.

The opposite shore is only about 500 m away to the north-north-west, which keeps the water sheltered from big waves.

The sea floor is still within the shallow coastal margin 1 km out; 3 km offshore the depth is about 2 m. Behind the beach the ground is about 9 m above sea level 500 m inland and 1 m at 1.5 km, a flat coastal plain.

Within 1 km, the land is 96% built-up land (satellite land-cover map, 2021): an urban beach. Water makes up 10% of that circle.
