Orientation, sun and shore

JunDecNESW

The shore faces north-north-west (340°). Open water fills about 19% of the horizon close by, which makes it a sheltered cove or bay.

The sun sets over the sea in June–July; in mid-June it goes down at 21:33 local time on a bearing of 314°.

The opposite shore is only about 500 m away to the north-north-west, which keeps the water sheltered from big waves.

The sea floor is still within the shallow coastal margin 1 km out; 3 km offshore the depth is about 12 m. Behind the beach the ground is about 14 m above sea level 500 m inland and 4 m at 1.5 km, a flat coastal plain.

Within 1 km, the land is 78% tree cover, 15% built-up land and 4% grassland (satellite land-cover map, 2021): a partly built-up setting. Water makes up 14% of that circle.
