Orientation, sun and shore

JunDecNESW

The shore faces south-east (145°). Open water fills about 50% of the horizon close by, which makes it an open stretch of shore.

The sun sets over the sea in December–January; in mid-December it goes down at 15:53 local time on a bearing of 229°.

Sunrise is over the sea in August–May.

The opposite shore is only about 12.0 km away to the south-east, which keeps the water sheltered from big waves.

About 1 km offshore the sea is roughly 9 m deep and 19 m at 3 km, a shallow, gently shelving sea floor. Behind the beach the ground is about 6 m above sea level 500 m inland and 17 m at 1.5 km.

Within 1 km, the land is 53% built-up land, 22% tree cover and 15% grassland (satellite land-cover map, 2021): an urban beach. Water makes up 53% of that circle.
