Across the year the sea averages 27.1 °C, warmer than 82% of the coastal beaches in the atlas.

July is the wettest month (461 mm) and January the driest (1 mm); the yearly total is about 1,380 mm.

Daylight runs from 10.9 hours in December to 13.4 hours in June; in mid-January the sun rises at 07:18 and sets at 18:17 local time.

Orientation, sun and shore

JunDecNESW

The shore faces south-south-west (200°). Open water fills about 25% of the horizon close by, which makes it an open stretch of shore.

The sun sets over the sea in December; in mid-December it goes down at 18:00 local time on a bearing of 245°.

The opposite shore is only about 500 m away to the south-south-west, which keeps the water sheltered from big waves.

The sea floor is still within the shallow coastal margin 1 km out; 3 km offshore the depth is about 5 m. Behind the beach the ground is about 10 m above sea level 500 m inland and 5 m at 1.5 km, a flat coastal plain.

Within 1 km, the land is 63% tree cover, 15% cropland and 12% built-up land (satellite land-cover map, 2021): a mixed, lightly developed setting. Water makes up 9% of that circle.
