When to go
The beach-day index peaks in June–September; September scores 9.2/10 with highs of 27 °C, sea at 23.3 °C and 37 mm of rain.
In September that is 0.3 points above the median of the 925 beaches in Italy covered by this atlas.
At its warmest the water here is 1.2 °C cooler than the Italy median for August (25.8 °C).
Across the year the sea averages 18.5 °C, cooler than 53% of the coastal beaches in the atlas.
November is the wettest month (80 mm) and July the driest (4 mm); the yearly total is about 470 mm.
Daylight runs from 9.4 hours in December to 15.0 hours in June; in mid-September the sun rises at 07:06 and sets at 19:37 local time.
Orientation, sun and shore
The shore faces west (280°). Open water fills about 47% of the horizon close by, which makes it an open stretch of shore.
The sun sets over the sea in every month; in mid-June it goes down at 20:55 local time on a bearing of 302°.
Straight out to the west about 500 km of open sea lies before the next coast, enough for large swells to build. The beach is on an island of about 24,008 km².
About 1 km offshore the sea is roughly 16 m deep and 35 m at 3 km. Behind the beach the ground is about 11 m above sea level 500 m inland and 28 m at 1.5 km.
Within 1 km, the land is 40% grassland, 33% cropland and 15% shrubland (satellite land-cover map, 2021): a rural setting among farmland. Water makes up 51% of that circle.
