Orientation, sun and shore

JunDecNESW

The shore faces south-west (225°). Open water fills about 28% of the horizon close by, which makes it an open stretch of shore.

The sun sets over the sea in October–March; in mid-December it goes down at 16:37 local time on a bearing of 232°.

The opposite shore is only about 5.0 km away to the south-west, which keeps the water sheltered from big waves.

About 1 km offshore the sea is roughly 11 m deep and 19 m at 3 km. Behind the beach the ground is about 2 m above sea level 500 m inland and 2 m at 1.5 km, a flat coastal plain.

Within 1 km, the land is 72% built-up land, 13% tree cover and 8% grassland (satellite land-cover map, 2021): an urban beach. Water makes up 20% of that circle.
