Orientation, sun and shore

JunDecNESW

The shore faces west (260°). Open water fills about 36% of the horizon close by, which makes it an open stretch of shore.

The sun sets over the sea in every month; in mid-June it goes down at 22:04 local time on a bearing of 311°.

The opposite shore is only about 500 m away to the west, which keeps the water sheltered from big waves.

About 1 km offshore the sea is roughly 25 m deep and 4 m at 3 km. Behind the beach the ground is about 1 m above sea level 500 m inland and 1 m at 1.5 km, a flat coastal plain.

Within 1 km, the land is 42% grassland, 30% built-up land and 17% tree cover (satellite land-cover map, 2021): a partly built-up setting. Water makes up 34% of that circle.
